00:00:58
Hey, it's me, dr Jewel, and I am elated to be with you and I
00:01:06
want to explore something called wellness and the reason I'm
00:01:09
talking about it, especially during this time.
00:01:11
I want to pull my notes up.
00:01:12
I'm just going to be very casual with this today.
00:01:14
This is a podcast recording, and I believe that during this
00:01:19
time when we think about wellness, when we think about
00:01:22
community, I think we need to consider emotional, social and
00:01:25
environmental wellness, and that's where this episode of
00:01:29
Cold Press Conversations is going to take you.
00:01:31
I am your host, dr Jewel, and I'm elated that we're going to
00:01:34
dive into this topic dealing with wellness and the powerful
00:01:37
role that community plays in nurturing it.
00:01:40
It you can be a part of a sorority, a professional
00:01:44
organization, a tight-knit group of friends.
00:01:45
A community that we belong to can profoundly shape our lives.
00:01:51
As we look at how emotional, social and environmental
00:02:00
wellness intertwine with our experiences, I want you to take
00:02:02
just a moment and consider some of the thoughts of what I'm
00:02:04
going to talk about about being and having a priority of your
00:02:07
own wellbeing can create a lasting legacy.
00:02:12
Let's start with the first one emotional wellness.
00:02:15
You know, emotional wellness is something where we grow.
00:02:21
All right, it's almost like I said we're talking about
00:02:25
environment.
00:02:26
It's like where our environment is and how we grow within that
00:02:29
environment allows us to evolve in our emotional wellness.
00:02:34
It can strengthen us, it can challenge us, but when you're
00:02:39
with a group of friends, you lean on someone during a tough
00:02:43
time or you just build on your emotional resilience during that
00:02:46
time.
00:02:47
That's where we become emotionally charged and that
00:02:53
takes us to a level of being courageous.
00:02:57
We become vulnerable when we're in that environment.
00:03:01
We celebrate accomplishments, we acknowledge struggles.
00:03:07
Okay, during this time, when we're in an emotional space, we
00:03:12
have an opportunity to grow and support each other's.
00:03:16
So I have a question for you.
00:03:18
I'm going to give you a question for each one, just to
00:03:21
make you think.
00:03:22
How can being a part of a supportive environment, a
00:03:27
community, impact your emotional well-being?
00:03:30
I just want you to think about how can this space nurture you
00:03:38
and how can this space also be a place where you nurture others
00:03:42
around you, also be a place where you nurture others around
00:03:50
you.
00:03:50
The second one is social wellness.
00:03:51
That's where we look at the community at heart, totally
00:03:53
right there.
00:03:54
I'm going to give you an example.
00:03:55
We have just celebrated my sorority sisters in my little
00:04:01
group, 35 years of being a part of a sorority.
00:04:04
We have witnessed how social wellness can evolve over time.
00:04:09
We've had joyful moments.
00:04:11
We have moments where we've had to support each other because
00:04:16
of sadness.
00:04:16
We've had emotional moments where we're just like we just
00:04:20
need to get together and just commune and be with each other.
00:04:23
That is a form of foundational growth and I'm elated by that,
00:04:31
because where we are today is not where we were before, and
00:04:36
that is what social wellness does.
00:04:38
It requires intentional work.
00:04:41
Intentional work, growth by creating a relationship or
00:04:51
relationships that inspire you and allow you to uplift each
00:04:52
other.
00:04:53
So, whether you're with a group of friends, colleagues,
00:04:56
sorority, sisters, inner circles , these connections must be an
00:05:02
authentic and nurturing moment.
00:05:04
So how do you?
00:05:08
Told you?
00:05:08
I got a question for each one.
00:05:09
So how do you look at these relationships in your life where
00:05:14
they contribute to your social wellness?
00:05:16
Sometimes we can reconnect with people and sometimes we need to
00:05:21
set boundaries.
00:05:22
So keep that in mind when you look at social wellness.
00:05:26
Wellness means just that you want to be in a space that
00:05:33
allows you to feel loved, wanted and listened to.
00:05:39
So that's social wellness, all right.
00:05:42
My third one environmental wellness.
00:05:45
Now I mentioned it just a touch earlier.
00:05:48
We kind of overlook emotional wellness sometimes or
00:05:54
environmental wellness in certain areas, but it all goes
00:06:00
together.
00:06:00
Environmental wellness is when you help create that community
00:06:06
or you're in it, and some people's environments are
00:06:09
unhealthy.
00:06:10
We don't want the unhealthy environment because that does
00:06:17
not create wellness.
00:06:18
It affects your mental and your physical wellness.
00:06:22
So that's why almost environmental wellness is one of
00:06:25
those things that you really and truly need to ensure is
00:06:29
healthy at all times.
00:06:30
You need to be in a space where you grow, you feel peace, you
00:06:36
feel connected, all right.
00:06:38
Sometimes you may need to nurture that area, all right, in
00:06:43
order to feel as though it's a collective well-being.
00:06:48
Environmental wellness.
00:06:49
Let me go deeper than that.
00:06:51
Environmental wellness also, like I say, has a physical space
00:06:57
, also, like I say, has a physical space, and it could be
00:07:01
your home, your workspace.
00:07:03
It depends on how you feel, how the interaction is.
00:07:07
So I want to ask the third question to you, and I'm going
00:07:13
to be honest with you.
00:07:13
If I think of all of them, your environment has to be a space
00:07:19
where you feel safe, all right, and I'm not just talking about
00:07:25
one environment.
00:07:26
There are multiple environments , but let's think of the home
00:07:28
environment or your workspace environment.
00:07:31
Those are the two you're primarily in most.
00:07:33
Is it cultivating you most?
00:07:45
Is it cultivating you?
00:07:46
Is it allowing you to re-image or allow you to feel as though
00:07:48
it's a space where your wellbeing is protected and
00:07:51
there's peace?
00:07:55
In this short episode, I wanted to create those things for you
00:07:59
today, talking about social wellness, discussing emotional
00:08:04
wellness and environmental wellness and, if you notice, the
00:08:08
last one on environmental wellness plays a pivotal role
00:08:13
into who you are.
00:08:15
It allows you to evolve with courage, intention, and that's
00:08:20
where your legacy continues.
00:08:24
I would love for you to be able to strengthen your emotional
00:08:28
resilience, nurture authentic connections and create uplifting
00:08:33
spaces, even if it is a small step at a time.
00:08:39
I want to say thank you so much for spending this amazing time
00:08:44

00:08:47

00:08:53
this little inspiration about their wellness journey, please
00:08:57

00:08:58

00:09:03
