Speaker 1: I want to go to the last one before we lose any time
00:00:02
the mind part, because I think oftentimes people don't realize
00:00:07
the impact of our thoughts.
00:00:09
Speaker 2: Oh well said, Absolutely.
00:00:12
Yeah, mic drop.
00:00:14
I don't know when do we begin.
00:00:17
This is a huge part of whenever I work with a person.
00:00:21
I'd say it's the make or break of whether a person actually
00:00:24
sees their health dreams come through or not.
00:00:27
From my experience, it all starts with people taking a few
00:00:30
days and just watching how they talk to themselves, watching
00:00:35
what kind of questions they ask themselves, watching what
00:00:38
happens when they screw up and how they treat themselves.
00:00:42
All these things are very much connected.
00:00:44
And then, on top of that, how do people treat themselves?
00:00:51

00:01:12
clinical practices, as well as guest shows with other leaders
00:01:17
in the field.
00:01:17
Pull up a seat and let's dive into these amazing and
00:01:22
game-changing conversations.
00:01:24
Let's dive into these amazing and game-changing conversations.
00:01:27
Hello, I am Dr Jewel and I am elated, excited, thrilled to
00:01:30
have Isabella Thor.
00:01:31
She is coming to us from Canada , am I right?
00:01:35
Speaker 2: That's right.
00:01:36
Eastern Canada, you're my second Canadian.
00:01:40
Speaker 1: I'm elated.
00:01:40
I'm elated.
00:01:41
I have Isabella Thor on here.
00:01:47
I'm telling you.
00:01:48
She has a wealth of experience where she is practicing as a
00:01:50
functional nutritional therapy practitioner, dedicated to
00:01:54
uncovering the roots of her clients' health issues, allowing
00:01:57
them to return to their favorite activities with their
00:01:59
loved ones.
00:02:00
Since March 2022, she has been self-employed in Canada, working
00:02:05
one-on-one with clients to apply the principles of
00:02:08
functional medicine.
00:02:09
She holds a degree from Quest University and is specialized in
00:02:13
holistic health through the Nutritional Therapy Association
00:02:16
since May 2021.
00:02:19
She works with two primary groups of clients women
00:02:22
experiencing menstrual issues and couples facing fertility
00:02:26
challenges.
00:02:27
Y'all heard me.
00:02:28
She understands that no woman wants to endure several days of
00:02:31
pain each month or rely on pain relieving drugs with potential
00:02:35
long-term side effects.
00:02:37
Isabella's approach aims to ensure smooth and easy periods
00:02:41
through nutritional therapy.
00:02:42
Additionally, she supports couples dealing with fertility
00:02:45
issues, helping them overcome obstacles and achieve their
00:02:48
dream of starting a family.
00:02:49
Through her personalized approach, Isabella empowers her
00:02:52
clients to reclaim their health and well-being.
00:02:55
Y'all have to admit, this is exciting, Is it not?
00:02:59
Welcome, Isabella, I'm thrilled to have you.
00:03:02
Speaker 2: Thanks so much, Dr Gerald.
00:03:04
It's lovely to be here and your energy is infectious.
00:03:07
I love it.
00:03:10
Speaker 1: They always say when I was in the classroom I never
00:03:12
the kids were like bouncing.
00:03:13
They were like, oh, this is because of the teacher, she's
00:03:15
just so excited.
00:03:15
I love just being around people and just giving some insight
00:03:19
and this is amazing.
00:03:20
Speaker 2: I'm elated, fantastic , I'm so glad, and I've talked
00:03:23
to a lot of people about what I do and one of the immediate
00:03:32
reactions often is like what that's possible?
00:03:33
And like tell me everything you know.
00:03:34
And or like very, very skeptical.
00:03:35
And I want you guys to know that all of this and what Dr
00:03:40
Jewell just read out to you is not for you just to believe.
00:03:43
I mean, we just met right.
00:03:45
It's for you to experience because it's very real and it's
00:03:48
very exciting.
00:03:49
Functional medicine and nutrition is the bomb.
00:03:52
I'm so glad I'm alive right now .
00:03:56
Speaker 1: No, seriously, it really is.
00:03:57
I mean, I think a lot of people are trying to understand
00:03:59
functional medicine.
00:04:00
A lot of people are trying to understand integrative health,
00:04:02
holistic methods, you know, so they can become better.
00:04:05
We know that the food industry has changed, our environment has
00:04:09
changed, and so some of these factors do play a role in how
00:04:13
our bodies react and how they accept various things, and we
00:04:16
know that with pharmaceuticals, that it does change the body
00:04:19
chemistry.
00:04:20
And so that's one of the reasons why I wanted to have you
00:04:23
here today, because when we look holistically at the body,
00:04:27
especially the female, and we're talking about the cycle, we're
00:04:30
talking about infertility, we're talking about a whole list of
00:04:34
multiple things that are involved.
00:04:36
We're talking about the holistic part of our brain,
00:04:38
thyroid, talking about the endocrine system, we're talking
00:04:42
about the reproductive system, and then our mental health and
00:04:46
wellness plays a role in both of these as well, and so that's
00:04:49
why I was elated to have you here.
00:04:51
Give me a background as to why you decided to even pursue what
00:04:55
you pursued.
00:04:56
Speaker 2: Absolutely no problem .
00:04:57
It's a very painful point in my life, but I absolutely love
00:05:02
sharing it because it's so important for people to know
00:05:05
this as well.
00:05:05
And I came to this functional medicine, nutritional field
00:05:10
through being on a completely different path.
00:05:12
You guys, I was down the road of being like physics,
00:05:16
philosophy master's degree and that sort of stuff, and then I
00:05:19
became so suicidally depressed that I had to drop out and
00:05:24
figure out what was going on.
00:05:25
I made a suicide pact with myself, which means that I gave
00:05:30
myself a certain amount of years to figure it out, and if I
00:05:34
couldn't, then it'd be fine.
00:05:35
I mean, there's no point right.
00:05:37
It was a really deep point of hopelessness.
00:05:40
And, you guys, what I discovered, it was incredible
00:05:46
how little really I had to do to lift the sort of the fog.
00:05:51
I hope you guys keep listening, because everything we're about
00:05:53
to talk about today from hormones to nutrition, to the
00:05:59
mind body connection, everything will also help you lift any
00:06:03
sort of depression you might have about the world, and I know
00:06:07
that's very common these days.
00:06:08
It's becoming more and more common.
00:06:10
It really is becoming more and more common.
00:06:12
So, you guys, just so you know, I was there and if any of you
00:06:15
guys are there too.
00:06:16
Just know that if you are occasionally depressed or
00:06:20
seriously depressed, cyclically or constantly, just know that
00:06:24
what you're seeing right now is not the fire of life.
00:06:28
What you're seeing is just the smoke.
00:06:31
I promise you and I was there, I know what it feels like, so
00:06:36
that's where I started and I had to figure it out and not the
00:06:41
fire.
00:06:41
Speaker 1: Of life is just smoke .
00:06:43
Oh my gosh, gosh, that's powerful.
00:06:45
Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
00:06:46
Yes, I take notes all the time too.
00:06:51
But yeah, I mean.
00:06:52
Speaker 1: I gotta write it down , all right, because it's
00:06:59
important, and at the end I will give our suicide number so
00:07:03
people can have a place where they can talk to somebody or
00:07:05
reach out to somebody, and for even health professionals, there
00:07:08
are various hotlines they could call as well.
00:07:11
But the positive thing from this is that you're stating that
00:07:14
, like you stated, it's not the fire life, but it's the smoke,
00:07:17
so it's not the thing that's going to burn us and make us
00:07:19
feel like we can't make it anymore, but what you're doing
00:07:22
is you're telling us it's there, but there are avenues in which
00:07:25
we can take to build us out of that, and that's the reason what
00:07:28
brought you here, because of functional medicine, and that's
00:07:31
amazing.
00:07:32
Thank you for sharing that.
00:07:33
That's very transparent and I thank you for even just sharing
00:07:37
that.
00:07:37
Speaker 2: My pleasure and, honestly, that is what led me
00:07:41
here.
00:07:42
I mean, what I discovered was not only how to just
00:07:45
ridiculously easily lift my depression and I really
00:07:48
appreciate that.
00:07:49
You mentioned the hotlines and the resources people should know
00:07:53
at least that are there but I was a classic case of having the
00:07:58
most loving family, the most loving relationships, most
00:08:03
amazing school environment, and yet still within me there was
00:08:08
this smoke and I couldn't see any hope or future.
00:08:11
So everybody can experience this feeling, this really deep
00:08:14
hopelessness, and sometimes doesn't matter who you talk to.
00:08:17
That's what I'm saying.
00:08:19
But I still want you guys to talk to somebody, of course, but
00:08:23
perhaps also try this as well at the same time.
00:08:26
Because I'm telling you guys to talk to somebody, of course,
00:08:26
but perhaps also try this as well at the same time, because
00:08:27
I'm telling you guys I had the best support system ever, but it
00:08:31
wasn't enough for me.
00:08:32
So, until I got the nutrition right because I realized I was
00:08:36
malnourished.
00:08:36
And back to the original question how do I get all the
00:08:40
way to helping women with periods and couples with
00:08:44
infertility challenges and that sort of thing I discovered I was
00:08:47
malnourished chronically and through that I accidentally
00:08:53
discovered that I could also have pain-free periods and that
00:08:58
had been something that's very normal for me as I was growing
00:09:01
up.
00:09:01
As I had my own period for the first time the first through
00:09:05
high school I had the most easiest smooth periods.
00:09:08
I didn't know that there could be hellish periods out there and
00:09:12
I know you guys many of you you start out really like down and
00:09:16
really like you're among the curse in terms of periods.
00:09:20
Speaker 1: And it's so sad.
00:09:21
Speaker 2: But I was lucky.
00:09:23
I started out really smooth and then, as I went into university
00:09:26
and beyond, my diet became terrible.
00:09:31
I went out of that system where I had some sort of deep
00:09:35
nourishment in my life and from there, slowly I had worse and
00:09:41
worse periods, just becoming more cruel and cruel.
00:09:44
And the thing is at that point when you have your first painful
00:09:48
period and you ask around, like your friends and your women
00:09:51
circles and that sort of thing, None of them think that it's
00:09:55
abnormal.
00:09:55
Nobody is like, oh weird.
00:09:59
They're all like oh yeah, you didn't know that.
00:10:02
Here's the Advil.
00:10:04
Or like here, say, do this, you need this and you'll get
00:10:08
through, Don't worry, honey.
00:10:09
Like that's what you get.
00:10:10
And so you just you think it's normal and that's fine.
00:10:13
But the thing is it turns out it's not normal at all and woman
00:10:19
after woman that I've worked with has found the same thing.
00:10:22
We just look at the same basic foundations.
00:10:24
We look at nourishment, we look at detoxification, we look at
00:10:29
the mind.
00:10:30
All of these three big foundations have all the other
00:10:33
sub foundations in them for health and these things once you
00:10:37
meet them.
00:10:38
I love saying this thing to my clients, especially because they
00:10:42
need to hear this and you guys probably need to hear this too.
00:10:45
And that is most likely and I really mean this most likely,
00:10:50
it's not an oversimplification most likely.
00:10:53
Your whole body is quite a perfect structure.
00:10:56
It has all the perfect parts, Every single thing you need, and
00:11:02
the only thing that's quote unquote wrong is that it just
00:11:06
doesn't have the resources to function.
00:11:09
Think of it like a factory.
00:11:11
You could have the most beautiful factory or any kind of
00:11:15
system to slowly, from within, break down one piece at a time
00:11:29
and like a cogwheel.
00:11:30
If one piece starts to falter, then more pressure is put on
00:11:31
other parts of the system.
00:11:32
Think of it like a table.
00:11:34
You cut away one part of a leg of a table.
00:11:38
What does a table suddenly have ?
00:11:40
It has that rockiness, shakiness, and some of the legs
00:11:45
will have to bear more burden all of a sudden.
00:11:48
So I see this all the time, for example, when I have people with
00:11:52
thyroid conditions or infertility conditions or
00:11:57
trouble losing weight.
00:11:58
The thing is their hormonal systems are just overburdened
00:12:03
most of the time and struggling on fumes to create what is
00:12:06
needed, like the thyroid hormones, for example.
00:12:08
And that is the big picture, and it's a very exciting picture
00:12:13
, I think and I really mean this when I say that most of us
00:12:17
really are perfectly formed.
00:12:18
And the very, very special genetic conditions out there are
00:12:21
like 0.00, very, very small number, and I have yet to come
00:12:27
across it personally in my practice, but I'm sure they
00:12:30
exist.
00:12:30
And of course we see that people are born perhaps with
00:12:34
some incomplete structures of some kind, but it's so, so rare.
00:12:38
So you guys, just remember this , you guys are most likely not
00:12:42
broken at all.
00:12:44
It's just time to get you re-nourished.
00:12:47
Speaker 1: That's incredible that you said that.
00:12:48
So what it sounds like is that you talk about the seven
00:12:52
foundations of health, where you're focusing on their
00:12:55
wellness and it's important to help the female or the woman
00:13:01
achieve there's nothing wrong with them, that they're fine.
00:13:05
So I guess what I need to know is what exactly are those seven
00:13:08
foundations of health which you use to help guide the woman?
00:13:14
Speaker 2: No problem.
00:13:15
Yeah, so fun little update that I have now officially made it.
00:13:20
Just I talk about three now because all of the foundations
00:13:25
are.
00:13:25
You know, there's so many and as I've practiced, I've found
00:13:29
out that you really just need to hit on three and everything
00:13:33
else is contained within it.
00:13:34
But yeah, let's talk about it, the three that is most important
00:13:38
for women that I work with are, first, nourishment, second,
00:13:43
detoxification support.
00:13:45
And the third is a very widely named category called mind, and
00:13:51
it is everything from your beliefs, your habit formation,
00:13:55
abilities.
00:13:56
In detoxification, for example, I have things like sleep, your
00:14:02
liver function, things like sleep, your liver function, your
00:14:09
hydration system, and in nourishment.
00:14:10
These are just briefly overlooking.
00:14:10
What does it mean when I talk about these three?
00:14:11
So in the nourishment side of things, I have vitamin, mineral
00:14:15
and macronutrients.
00:14:16
If you don't know, macronutrients are everything
00:14:19
you have on your plate Protein, carbs, fat.
00:14:21
Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals.
00:14:25
So I have macros and macros.
00:14:27
Make sure you have them from properly prepared, highly
00:14:31
nourishing sources.
00:14:32
And then we talk about fatty acid balance.
00:14:36
And absolutely the most important thing to me is that
00:14:40
whenever I start working with someone, especially when they're
00:14:42
dealing with pain, I want them to know first of all, when you
00:14:47
are in pain, when does society, including our medical
00:14:52
professionals, ever consider that a normal part of your life,
00:14:56
unless it's a chronic condition ?
00:14:59
So a typical lady who's still having her cycle these days,
00:15:05
she'll be in a lot of pain for the first few days of her cycle
00:15:09
and she'll think that's normal and she'll have that every
00:15:12
single month for 30, 35 years-ish and that in any other
00:15:18
textbook I've ever seen is absolutely considered a chronic
00:15:23
condition and not at all a normal thing.
00:15:26
So pain is a signal from your body, you guys, and I teach you
00:15:31
guys how to read your bodies again and not ignore the signs
00:15:36
that it's giving you.
00:15:36
And not only pain is a language that your body talks to you
00:15:42
with, but things like your mood is also how it speaks to you.
00:15:46
Your cravings is how it speaks to you, and this is all very
00:15:50
much how functional nutrition and medicine looks at the body.
00:15:54
It's very holistic and everything's so connected with
00:15:57
each other.
00:15:58
And yeah, so that's where I want to begin.
00:16:03
First of all, look around you.
00:16:04
You are probably not deficient in non-steroidal
00:16:10
anti-inflammatory drugs or any painkillers you know
00:16:13
over-the-counter painkillers.
00:16:14
You're probably deficient in very basic macro and
00:16:20
micronutrients that are very commonly low in today's
00:16:23
population.
00:16:24
So, specifically, let's talk about an example.
00:16:27
So vitamin D levels, for example, very, very low Usually.
00:16:31
I start there.
00:16:32
Make sure that they have enough vitamin D levels circulating in
00:16:35
their bloodstream.
00:16:36
Again, almost every system in your body uses vitamin D in some
00:16:40
way.
00:16:40
It's so essential to get enough from your diet, and not only
00:16:45
the sun, but your diet in particular, that in the
00:16:48
functional lens.
00:16:49
We use it and we talk about it like a hormone.
00:16:52
It's just that important.
00:16:54
So that's where I like to start .
00:16:56
You guys, if you aren't on any vitamin D3, in particular right
00:17:01
now, it's very safe to start taking about 5 international
00:17:06
units a day and it doesn't have any counter indications with
00:17:12
any medicines I've come across so far.
00:17:14
It's a very safe thing.
00:17:15
But of course, you may absolutely talk to your
00:17:17
practitioner about it.
00:17:18
But you guys, especially if you're dealing with any kind of
00:17:21
hormonal pain I mean there aren't many conditions.
00:17:24
I haven't seen this help but specifically we're talking about
00:17:28
painful periods right now and also are the reproductive
00:17:32
ailments that we're seeing more and more of today and mind
00:17:35
ailments that we're seeing more and more today.
00:17:37
So if you increase your vitamin D3, I often see people lift that
00:17:44
fog I talked about that smoke within days.
00:17:48
It's so powerful.
00:17:49
And that's just from you going into almost any natural
00:17:54
supermarket, even a regular supermarket, and you can pick
00:17:57
this up Again it's 5 international units of vitamin
00:18:02
D3, not D2.
00:18:05
I've studied for a long enough to know that there's many
00:18:09
differences between these numbers that you might come
00:18:13
across.
00:18:13
So you know we've done all the work for you.
00:18:17
Go for the D3, not the D2.
00:18:19
And it's the same thing for all the minerals that I recommend,
00:18:23
or when I recommend people's basic other vitamins or minerals
00:18:29
, they're very specific.
00:18:30
And when it comes to man-made supplements, I usually recommend
00:18:36
that people get as much as they can from whole foods and high
00:18:41
quality foods, because you have all these ratios of so many
00:18:45
minerals and vitamins and macronutrients and they come in
00:18:48
such great proportions in a whole food, especially things
00:18:52
like a whole animal food, still one of the most nutrient dense
00:18:56
foods on our plates today.
00:18:58
Just so you guys know, we're still on the nourishing, yeah
00:19:01
we're still nourishing.
00:19:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, you have the three foundations, and you've
00:19:06
given us a large amount of information on just nourishing
00:19:10
alone that we need to keep in mind, and I think what's
00:19:15
important is that one thing I do want to pull out, as our
00:19:18
listeners are listening to this that you brought out pain is not
00:19:22
normal, and if it is, then that means there's something else.
00:19:27
We already have the perfect body, but what's happening is
00:19:30
something just doesn't function appropriately, and nourishment
00:19:34
is one of the key things, and the reason I bring that up is
00:19:36
because you stated that when you realized that the way you were
00:19:41
feeling was not a mental issue, it was because you were
00:19:45
chronically malnourished, and that's really important to hear,
00:19:50
because it sounds like you may have gone through your second
00:19:53
step of detoxing.
00:19:54
Speaker 2: Yes, I really liked that point.
00:19:56
Very, very smooth.
00:19:57
She's good guys.
00:20:00
But yeah, absolutely, it goes almost without without saying.
00:20:05
But I think it's important to say the obvious, because it's
00:20:07
not necessarily obvious to people who don't spend years of
00:20:10
their life in these things.
00:20:11
But the thing is you most likely have a perfectly formed
00:20:16
structure and at most likely just doesn't have enough
00:20:19
nutrients to get things moving like a beautiful car and you
00:20:23
just don't give it any fuel and you expect it to do well.
00:20:27
Speaker 1: No way now, oh, excellent analogy excellent
00:20:31
analogy.
00:20:32
Speaker 2: You know, other than petroleum and these fantastic
00:20:35
energy from macros and micros.
00:20:37
The other thing that's so important which is why it's the
00:20:39
second foundation that I love talking about is that you can't
00:20:43
expect your system to function if it's stuffed full of leftover
00:20:47
metabolites and detoxification leftovers that your body just
00:20:52
hasn't been able to get rid of.
00:20:54
My favorite analogy for this is imagine if you lived in an
00:20:58
apartment or a home where you couldn't take out the trash for
00:21:01
a whole year.
00:21:03
This is what it's like when you're not aware number one of
00:21:07
where toxins come from in our modern day life and how
00:21:10
prevalent they are really.
00:21:11
They really are everywhere and you got to really keep your eyes
00:21:14
open.
00:21:14
And number two, if you don't naturally support your organ
00:21:18
systems that are in charge of detoxification.
00:21:20
That could look as simple as making sure you drink enough
00:21:23
water.
00:21:24
Like I mentioned, hydration is one important part of
00:21:25
detoxification.
00:21:25
That could look as simple as making sure you drink enough
00:21:27
water.
00:21:27
Like I mentioned, hydration is one important part of
00:21:32
detoxification.
00:21:32
So is sleep, by the way, because every night, there's
00:21:34
this liquid from your spine that comes into your brain and
00:21:37
washes it and then goes back, and so every night, you have a
00:21:39
brain bath, your body gives you a brain bath, and every single
00:21:43
day, your blood flows through your system.
00:21:46
What is it?
00:21:46
Five liters a minute or something.
00:21:49
And there's another system in your body that is called your
00:21:52
lymphatic system, and that system doesn't have any muscles
00:21:57
to keep it pumping and moving.
00:21:58
And, by the way, guys, most of your detoxification systems go
00:22:03
through that system.
00:22:03
So not your blood really, systems go through that system.
00:22:05
So not your blood really, but your lymph system.
00:22:08
That's where a lot of your immune system is actually
00:22:10
located.
00:22:11
So what do you have to do?
00:22:17
You need to make sure that there's some sort of movement in
00:22:18
your day, naturally and consciously, or you can do
00:22:20
lymphatic brushing, which is something I recommend to my more
00:22:23
busy professionals.
00:22:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, A lot of people are seeing that now, especially
00:22:28
, for some reason, I don't know why summertime that you see more
00:22:30
of those videos that are on Instagram and Facebook and
00:22:34
YouTube.
00:22:34
They talk about the brushing and the lymphatic system and
00:22:39
just sort of starting your day off and how you do it and the
00:22:42
proper way to do it, where the direction you push you know, and
00:22:45
it's pretty interesting to watch how people do this.
00:22:49
You know, I'm curious about this , Isabella, have you heard about
00:22:51
a mini trampoline and how people are like get on that mini
00:22:54
trampoline, you know, and they're like that's helping move
00:22:57
everything for you and get that lymphatic system going?
00:23:01
And I'll never forget that was like a big face, so everyone was
00:23:04
going out behind these mini trampolines and bouncing on them
00:23:06
for a minute, you know, but it's just the way.
00:23:10
I wish to get the entire whole body moving and I think that's
00:23:18
important because, as you stated , nourishment, detoxing and how
00:23:22
our system moves and the lymphatic system is what takes
00:23:26
in a lot of those toxins and they must be eliminated.
00:23:29
I want to go to the last one before we lose any time the mind
00:23:33
part, because I think oftentimes people don't realize
00:23:38
the impact of our thoughts.
00:23:40
Speaker 2: Ooh, well said.
00:23:42
Absolutely, yeah, mic drop.
00:23:45
I don't know when do we begin.
00:23:48
This is a huge part of whenever I work with a person.
00:23:52
I'd say it's the make or break of whether a person actually
00:23:55
sees their health dreams come through or not.
00:23:58
From my experience, it all starts with people taking a few
00:24:01
days and just watching how they talk to themselves, watching
00:24:06
what kind of questions they ask themselves, watching what
00:24:09
happens when they screw up and how they treat themselves.
00:24:13
All these things are very much connected.
00:24:15
And then, on top of that, how do people treat themselves?
00:24:19
This is very important to understanding how you treat
00:24:23
yourself when it comes to developing good habits for life.
00:24:27
So if your relationship with yourself is shaky and quite
00:24:32
tyrannical honestly is the right word for it and not like a
00:24:37
person who genuinely cares for yourself and genuinely cares
00:24:42
that you have a good life, then when we talk about forming
00:24:45
habits for life through this awesome optimization system, I
00:24:48
teach people where they do one thing for 90 days and then, by
00:24:52
the way, that becomes something called automatic.
00:24:56
It means like it almost becomes a reflex in your system.
00:24:59
If you can do something for around 90 days, you might have
00:25:01
heard the saying that 28 days is what it takes to make a habit,
00:25:06
but really that is actually not the case.
00:25:09
That's maybe enough to start breaking a habit, but when they
00:25:13
looked at a group of people, the average was actually between
00:25:17
180 days and the month, and so in between is like the average
00:25:25
for everyone.
00:25:26
So it's about 90 days for most people to really start seeing an
00:25:29
automatic habit come along.
00:25:30
So I teach people could take one thing and use me as an
00:25:34
accountability person and let's just make sure you do that every
00:25:39
single day and we'll keep track of it with this awesome
00:25:42
checklist.
00:25:42
And then at the top of the checklist we have an identity
00:25:45
statement checklist.
00:25:47
And then at the top of the checklist we have an identity
00:25:48
statement.
00:25:48
Who are you becoming by doing the following checklist?
00:25:50
And it could be as simple as I'm going to drink this much
00:25:51
water every day.
00:25:52
At the top I see beautiful things that people write.
00:25:56
So we're talking about the mind component of recovery and the
00:26:00
identity statement is an important part of the moment.
00:26:03
My client realizes that it's not really about getting there
00:26:07
to the goal.
00:26:08
It's about who they're becoming while they're getting there and
00:26:12
that will keep you motivated.
00:26:14
Getting to the there will not really get you motivated.
00:26:19
It's knowing who you're becoming, putting it in writing
00:26:23
and having it at the top.
00:26:25
You know, people write.
00:26:26
I'd be one of those people that does cartwheels with her
00:26:30
grandkids when she's 80 and like that's the vision, you know,
00:26:36
and that's not a destination, it's, it's the becoming.
00:26:40
And um on top of that, I'd say just watch what you're asking
00:26:46
yourself, um, because your mind is such a powerful tool and I
00:26:50
did not understand people when they talked about the mind
00:26:53
component for a long time, until I really started working with
00:26:57
people, and here's what I wished all these people had said your
00:27:02
mind completely works for you, so if you feed it harmful
00:27:06
questions, it will give you harmful answers.
00:27:09
Speaker 1: For example, there you go, there you go.
00:27:11
No, you nailed it right there yeah, for example, the mind
00:27:15
actually, no, no, no, you really just nailed it right there
00:27:18
because it depends on your belief system.
00:27:20
They say your tongue can be very powerful.
00:27:23
Yeah.
00:27:23
You're going to breathe life or death, and so the way that we
00:27:27
use our tongue is how we're thinking, and so that's super
00:27:31
important.
00:27:32
There was something else you just stated.
00:27:33
You were talking about the mindset and how it can play a
00:27:36
huge role into how one can function.
00:27:39
And then it was the number of days.
00:27:41
You said 90.
00:27:42
Yes, 90 days, and it depends on the individual and it can go up
00:27:46
to 180.
00:27:46
So I'm just going to break this down for people.
00:27:48
So she's talking about three months.
00:27:51
Originally, people were talking about the 28 day cycle, so
00:27:54
we're talking about maybe like the month of February.
00:27:56
However, we're talking about literally, it takes three months
00:28:00
to six months so that it becomes no longer a process that
00:28:05
you're doing to learn, to correct, but to make it a habit,
00:28:09
and so that's huge.
00:28:11
That is huge.
00:28:12
I know we have just a couple more minutes left, isabella, oh
00:28:15
my and.
00:28:16
I just want you to yeah, I know you and I have just like, I've
00:28:19
been like engrossed, you've been engrossed, I mean we're really
00:28:21
loving this part and I really appreciate that.
00:28:24
You gave a lot of really neat nuggets.
00:28:26
When we think about a situation , it doesn't necessarily have to
00:28:29
be the situation we were discussing earlier, but a
00:28:30
situation it's not the fire of life but the smoke Y'all.
00:28:35
I have to repeat that I'm going to tell you, isabella has given
00:28:38
me something I've got to share, because that is just spoke
00:28:42
volumes.
00:28:42
I was chronically malnourished and that just played a huge role
00:28:47
into everything that you're doing how we're focusing on your
00:28:50
three foundations.
00:28:51
They went from seven for functional, but now to three
00:28:53
dealing with nourishment, detox, support and the mind.
00:28:56
And you explain even though we were talking about the body
00:29:00
collectively with your certification and nutritional
00:29:04
functions, understanding therapy itself and how it focuses on
00:29:08
the functional medicine.
00:29:09
I think you've helped a lot of us understand it from a more
00:29:13
simpler way of understanding our body.
00:29:16
So often we get so into those big terms, isabella, don't we?
00:29:20
And I love it, but you broke it down.
00:29:22
You broke it down.
00:29:23
Speaker 2: I broke it down.
00:29:27
Speaker 1: I'm going to call it the simplified method of
00:29:29
functional medicine.
00:29:30
Oh, I love it.
00:29:30
Talk to Isabella.
00:29:31
Oh, you're so sweet.
00:29:33
Do you want to leave our viewers with one key thing that
00:29:39
they need to know about themselves, because you have
00:29:42
given so much, I can't even describe it.
00:29:45
You've helped some people out there who really need help, and
00:29:49
you've given them a place to know where to start, which is
00:29:53
amazing.
00:29:53
So what would you like to say today to them?
00:29:56
Speaker 2: Let's see.
00:29:57
Oh, one thing, she's really doing it to me now.
00:30:00
Okay, one thing, let me just say this.
00:30:05
Back to the questions you ask yourself, because I really think
00:30:08
that's important to leave people with why.
00:30:10
You can either ask yourself a harmful question like why is
00:30:13
this always happening to me?
00:30:15
Why am I never losing this weight, for example, is a really
00:30:18
common one.
00:30:18
Why am I in so much pain all the time?
00:30:20
Okay, you ask yourself that your mind will come up with the
00:30:23
evidence for it, I promise you.
00:30:25
So instead, ask a better question.
00:30:28
Ask yourself how can I solve this in the easiest, smoothest
00:30:32
way possible, or in a different situation.
00:30:34
What is this situation?
00:30:35
What is this terrible person in front of me trying to actually
00:30:39
gift me?
00:30:39
If this person was a teacher, what is he or she trying to gift
00:30:43
me in this moment, including the pain?
00:30:45
So what is this trying to teach me?
00:30:47
Instead, it's a very helpful reframe.
00:30:50
And then your mind, I mean, which is part of your body.
00:30:52
By the way, we tend to forget that your brain is an organ.
00:30:57
It will answer it will say maybe this pain is actually not
00:31:03
normal and maybe it's time to talk to someone about it.
00:31:05
And here's where I really like leaving this conversation with a
00:31:11
completely free gift.
00:31:13
And that is something I've put together only recently for
00:31:17
International Menstruation Day, I believe a few months ago and I
00:31:22
put my whole process into five steps on how to relieve
00:31:25
pain-free periods, and it's something I've worked on for so
00:31:28
long with people and it's part of my practice now.
00:31:31
But I see a lot of other people now with fertility challenges,
00:31:34
weight loss challenges, chronic conditions.
00:31:36
So I just put this guide together.
00:31:38
It's five steps on how to have pain-free periods and it's
00:31:42
everything we've talked about and more, and it has very
00:31:45
specific recommendations of what I would recommend you take,
00:31:49
including micronutrients, detoxification support and you
00:31:53
guys a lot of it.
00:31:54
I believe most of it is free, like stuff you can do for free,
00:31:58
and it really should get you there.
00:32:00
If it doesn't get you there, then you know who to call,
00:32:03
because I take those cases too, but to get that completely free
00:32:07
resource it will always be free.
00:32:09
I believe it's on my website at isabelathorcom slash painful
00:32:15
dash periods Very simple.
00:32:17
So it's completely free and I hope you guys share it because I
00:32:21
can't tell you how deeply I wish I had this information 10
00:32:26
years ago.
00:32:26
I love what I do now, but I also loved what I was doing back
00:32:30
then, before I got depressed.
00:32:32
I loved studying physics, I love studying philosophy, and
00:32:35
you guys, I also want people to continue doing what they love,
00:32:40
so that especially women we already have enough shit to deal
00:32:44
with and stereotypes and all of that stuff.
00:32:46
So, yeah, just take it and share it, because we're worth it,
00:32:52
ladies, we're totally worth it.
00:32:53
And ask yourself better questions, please, oh thank you
00:32:57
so so much, isabella.
00:32:59
Speaker 1: Thank you, you have given so much information in
00:33:02
regards to women's health, how we need to concentrate on what
00:33:06
we eat, how we speak and how we treat our bodies, and I thank
00:33:10
you.
00:33:10
That is so well worth it.
00:33:12
If they didn't get anything else, maybe have gotten the last
00:33:17
few seconds where you mentioned how they can start, and I
00:33:20
really appreciate it.
00:33:21
I just wanna say thank you very much to everyone who's tuned
00:33:24
into Cold Press Conversations Until next time.
00:33:26

00:33:53
